$600 Million Announced to Leverage and Expand Housing Building Technologies

We need to make it easier to build homes in Canada and lower the cost to get that done. That means investing in ideas and technology like prefabricated housing factories, mass timber production, penalization, and 3D printing.
Yesterday we announced $600 million to leverage and expand these technologies.
We also announced a modernized Housing Design Catalogue to standardize up to 50 efficient, cost-effective, and livable home blueprints. With $11.6 million in Budget 2024, this will include frames for modular homes, row housing, and fourplexes – that housing manufacturers, provinces, territories, and municipalities will be able to use to simplify and accelerate their housing approvals and construction timelines. We did it after WWII to get houses built quicker and we can do it again.
